“No more biking to event”- Essence

“Thank you God” was the word coming out from the facebook love crooner essence after the record label she was signed to give her a car a weeks ago.

Its would be re called that essence was frustrated sometimes early this year, when she was confronted by one of her fans who have been seeing her taking the Yellow cab or bike(Okada) which didn't go down with the dark skin singer.

Our finding revealed that essence had one time want to quit the record label (Kennis Music) since she wasn't leaving up to standard like her other female singers, but thought of the strong plat from the record label has.

Essence is coming out with “Facebook love” remix featuring Jaywon & Neato C, I guess this is her year of fulfillment after she also did a political jingle for her state governor Dr Uduagan of Delta State along side other artiste that hail from Delta state.

The project coordinators gave the artistes an overview of the coming awards and a tip of what the public should expect from this year's awards. There was a listening session to pick one from two beats produced by Samklef.
Reacting to the brief, Ice Prince thanked the organizers saying, "I'm privileged to be a part of this theme song and these guys are my friends so we should have fun on this project".
"This is our time, the last theme song was produced by old artistes" said Wizkid, sarcastically referring to Banky W and M.I.
Gorgeous vocalist, Waje said "I'm ready and capable to deliver on the theme song and fans should expect nothing but the best".
The project coordinator, talked about the previous theme song saying "In 2009, the theme song, "A Prize To Die For" was recorded by M.I, Kel and Banky W while Eldee Tha Don produced. The song was released a week before the Awards and did not have enough time to sink into the public. This was why we decided to use only the beat in 2010. This year, all hands are on deck to ensure an earlier release which will be followed with the video."
Other artistes involved in this project are 2Face Idibia, Illbliss and Mo'Cheddah. Other details of the awards will be made public soon.

CAROLINE EKANEM DANJUMA SWEET TALE TURNS SOUR

But the latest gist indicates that; the multimillion naira entertainment company has finally closed down.
The news was pass across via message from Philips Okafor, one of Caroline's aides.
According to the aide, contrary to strong tales swirling around about how her husband,Musa Danjuma, locked her up in their Ikoyi mansion over some illicit act, the Ex actress had to close down the business after she was instructed by her husband to give more time to her matrimonial functions.
Mr. Okafor further reveals that other reasons for the closure was the irresponsible altitude of some artistes signed under the record label arm of the business. Also, some staff of the company have been involved in pilfering some of the high tech equipments of the company and even money expected to be remitted into the company's account.
However, further findings reveal that the main reason for the closure of the business was based on the fact that; Mr. Danjuma is tired of the negative reports swirling around the former actress.

MERCY JOHNSON FLAUNTS DIAMOND WEDDING RING- SAYS “I WANT FOUR KIDS”

Star actress, Mercy Johnson is walking down the aisle in August, and this is no lie. Her wedding date is August 27, 2011. Flaunting her glittering diamond wedding ring, she described her encounter with her in-laws pleasant and looks forwards to a fairy tale wedding day that nothing will be spared as she jets out to Italy and America to shop till she drops.

You have picked the final date for your wedding to Odi, why the several postponements as reported in a section of the media?

There were no postponements in the past, if there was I would have told you, I've always insisted on a dream wedding on my birthday, I never said this year or next year, all I wanted was a wedding close to my birthday. I heard people saying August 28 but I came out to say my wedding is not August 28 because I wasn't specific about a date. So I simply said the wedding is not August 28. I wanted it to be close to my birthday because it takes a lot of planning. You can remember last year, the date was a Saturday. All I said is that I wanted it to be close to my birthday and that's all.

How did you feel about media speculations about the issue?

It wasn't anything, it was like people were wishing me very well, after I'd done well for myself in my chosen field, people couldn't just wait to see me walk down the aisle. People are excited about it and they can't wait but they should not worry.

So the new date is realistic?

There is no new date, the real date is August 27th, and so there was never an old date.

You have any event planner for this?

Yes, I'm talking with Royal Landmarks, but I can't really specify for now who'll handle the wedding.

I can't imagine what you'll be wearing on your wedding day, because it would look smashing, so what designer are you looking at?

I'm actually going to Paris to shop for that, I've got lots of catalogues. I'm going to the U.S with my hubby next week to also search for good ones because it just has to be perfect and that means I have to travel a lot this period.

Who'll make your hair?

Agatha, simply because just one person makes my hair and makes me smile

Are you having a church wedding or a traditional wedding?

The court wedding is 25th of August, the traditional wedding is 26th of August, the church wedding is 27th of August and the thanksgiving is the next day.

Who's your bride's maid?

I can't tell you for now, everything is ready but I can't tell you.

An actress?

Yes.

That means you have friends amongst actresses in Nigeria, afterall?

Everyone can't be your friend, I have my girls in the industry, and everyone has their favourites, so also me.

How did you trim it down to one actress and what did you see in that person?

I just chose my girls to do the thing and we all agreed on who was going to do this and that, so it wasn't anything out of the blues.

How did he propose?

(Laughs) He was straight and normal.

Did he kneel down?

No, he didn't kneel down because he's a prince. In November last year, when we went to visit our parents officially, he had the ring before he came back from the UK, but certain things happened which I'll never tell you and he gave me the ring.

Why are you marrying Odi?

I ask him every morning, and I keep telling him that if I don't marry him someone else will not marry him. He's not that multi-billionaire, I just love that man, he's a handsome man, a good man, I just love him, plus his flaws, even when he pisses me off I want to kiss his knees.

You have your flaws too, how has he been able to contain it?

We understand each other, so we try to work on them not criticize, he's too blunt. Odi tells you the way it is irrespective of how you feel, I prefer he says you are stupid in a subtle manner, you know sometimes you don't act normal, I'll wish I could change that too, for me too I know I need to attend anger management classes, all the same that is why we are friends, so we can tolerate ourselves.

Can you recall how you guys met?

It was at the salon Make Me in Surulere, Lagos.

What really attracted you to him?

He's a likeable person, he's just IT. I don't know how to explain it.

Are you looking at a lavish wedding or budget wedding?

A lavish wedding; yes, because it has to be big.

How many children are you looking at?

Four, I love kids, at home I squeeze clothes into my stomach and ask Odi how do I look and he just laughs at me, in essence I love kids a lot.

How do you combine your project and your work?

My publicist Samuel makes lots of movement, and basically where we go to is schools, hospitals and distribute stationeries, gifts, as a result of this I might not be active on the acting scene just to concentrate on my project, I actually have a TV show coming up soon.

Is it that you don't have time for movies or they have not been coming your way?

They haven't been coming my way.

What's the best gift Odi has ever given you?

Odi gives me everything, and the best thing he ever gives me is attention, Odi can just be in the parlour and I scream my leg! He comes rushing to the rescue.

Any special gift you're expecting on your wedding day from Odi?

Yes, there is something I've been telling him to get for me, which I know he would get for me but he hasn't admitted it.

Mercy, who will not be at your wedding?

(Laughs!) I don't see any reason why I won't want to see anybody at my wedding; the invitation might not reach you, although I don't want the whole place crowded and clumsy.

Are you drawing the list?

Yes we have a list, my event planner has a list and it will be brought to me for approval.

Do you have Mama G (Patience Ozokwo) in the list?

Definitely, Mama G is the mother of the day; ask her she'll tell you, so she is going to be there.

Rumours had it that you went to Germany for skin wash, was it in preparedness for your wedding?

I don't know where that is coming from; I didn't go to Germany, look at my skin to see for yourself.

Can you recall your first encounter with your in-laws?

It was pretty; I'm a very playful person. It was pleasant; they are very friendly and nice. I'm extremely close to my mother-in-law.

Does she watch your movies?

No and I'm so glad she doesn't.

You told me once that Odi wanted you to stop wearing those skimpy clothes after wedding, what do you think?

Yes of course, I've had enough of these skimpy clothes, I'm going to start my TV show soon, and I can't afford to wear skimpy clothes on national TV, and please I'm not pregnant, when I was single I had to answer to myself but now I'm not.

Where did you dump all the skimpy clothes?

We've got upcoming movie girls, the Biola Ige's, Angelina Okorie, Annie, they are all my girls so they are taking over, watch their movies.

Will marriage make you reject some roles?

There is no character I've not played, unless they want to refine roles. So any role that is going to embarrass my family I'm definitely going to drop it.

So you admit the fact that there were some roles you played in the past that were embarrassing?

They were not embarrassing, it's make believe, nobody has asked me why I shaved my hair, the reason is to make things come out well and that is the reason why I wear skimpy things. But I must say that my hair is really growing fast. (She pulled her wig to show her head).

Have you relocated away from Lagos?

No. It's just that I do most of my job in the east but I still live in Lagos.

What is that one thing you should do and not do in this industry?

One thing you shouldn't do in Nollywood is not to limit yourself and if you want to go far you have to be daring and that's one thing I learnt from Genevieve Nnaji and things you should do is persistence and work on yourself because you are never the best.

They say if you have it flaunt it, why hasn't Odi stepped out with you?

He doesn't like publicity but after the wedding I'll drag him along once in a while.

What is he into?

Oil and gas.

You are well known for your outburst, how do you want to cope with it in your marriage?
I think most of the problems I had is, sometimes, you just flip one second and you remember that personality that ought to be seconded by who you are. Who you are comes first and the personality you portray comes next and not first, becomes when you allow it come first; you see everybody as below you. So I think we all flip once in a while and when it's me, it becomes news. I have colleagues who fight on set, so when you flip you just lose it, but you remember let me just calm down. I remember when I offended Mama. Mama knows me so well that it was an important issue for her, because she knows that I don't play with her, so it was just sad that with all the work stress, shooting and everything gets you all messed up properly. You lose it, but you just have to remember for who you are as a person comes first before that personality anytime.

I'M DYING TO WORK WITH 2FACE IDIBIA (RAP STAR OLAMIDE)

Olamide is a Nigerian rapper. He is known for his versatile rap style, free spirited delivery and creative lyrical ability.

Born Olamide Adedeji on the 15 of March, in Bariga Lagos.Olamide fell in love with Rap music early in his primary school days.Soon, he discovered he also had the talent to Rap and began to nurture the talent from the year 2000.He got his break after the release of the monster hit single Eni Duro in 2010 and ever since, it's been a success story all the way.

In this interview, he talks about his life, new album and working relationship with Toni Payne.

Tell us about the reviews on your new album Rapsodi ?

Everything has been on check, good responses; the album has been doing well on the streets and everywhere. The first video off the album Eni Duro is great and the video for Omo To Shan with Whiz kid is almost done and then after, the plan is to shoot a couple of more videos from the album.

Why do people compare you to Dagrin?

I think it might be because I can flow well in Yoruba, if you remember when Dagrin started some people were like have you heard Dagrin he raps like Ajasa.I think with time as people get to listen to my album they'll understand this is Olamide and his own style. No one can be like Dagrin he was the Greatest Artistes to come out of Nigeria. I am just trying to do my own thing my own way and with the message I try to pass across with my music people will start seeing me as my real self.

Tell us about your experience on the set of your video Eni Duro?

I would really love to win an award for the video cuz it took us four days to get the video done. I was really stressed out that I had to go get clothes from here and there.

Dj Tee is a very professional director; he ensures that will make use of the best costumes. I had to get about 40 different costumes; we eventually make use of 27 of them. It was so hectic but we thank God that the outcome was great.

How do you manage the attention you get from fans?

So far it has been fun, cool and at the same time taking me away from the everyday life I love living; like staying out on the streets, hanging out with my friends, going to eat in Bukas.Right now, I can't go to Bukas to eat cos even when I try it my friends will caution me.

Olamide who is presently studying Mass Communication at the Tai Solarin College of Education also reveals that him working with Toni Payne has been really great, cos my dreams are coming true.

Any future collaboration?

Right now, there is only one person on my mind; and that is 2face Idibia; am dying to work with him.

JOSSY JOSS EVICTED FROM BIG BROTHER AMPLIFIED HOUSE

The first Housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother Amplified House is Jossy. He was the Housemates that received the least number of country votes and was Evicted from the show to go home.

Danny received the second least number of votes and was sent to the Tails House.

The six housemates who were up for eviction, four were female housemates(Confidence, Vina, Weza, Vimbai) and they indeed impressed Africa so Biggie asked them back to the house while Danny(Ethiopia) and Jossy Joss were the last two housemates up for a eviction.

COMEDIAN PRINCESS NEW FOUND PROFESSION

Princess Damilola Adekoya is a graduate of Creative Arts, University of Lagos. She is an actress and currently blazing trail as a stand –up comedian.
Princess, as she is popularly known in showbiz circles, has featured in so many television programmes, including Flat Mates and Super Story. She's into many things and has been able to carve a niche for herself over the years.
Before now, she had waited to be an Engineer before fate pulled a fast one on her and she ended up in the Arts.
A close source to Princess recently reveals  that she's taken timeout in the comedy industry to focus more on her new found vocation catering. Our sources further hinted that the reason for her temporary change of profession is based on the fact that the competition in the comedy industry is getting stiffer, and she needs something to fall back on.

I wasn't intimidated acting with Genevieve –Joseph Benjamin

Joseph Benjamin modelled for Fanta Chapman, a popular soft drink in the 90s and was a child actor in the popular TV series, Tales By Moonlight. He has hosted of Project Fame and is the lead actor in Mahmood Ali-Balogun's new film,Tango with Me. Senior Reporter, Ifeoma Meze, met him during the week.

How did you start?

I started out first with modelling - photography modelling and modelling for commercials, TV adverts and all. My very first job was for Fanta Chapman in the 90s. That was the first brand I modelled for. Then my first acting experience was in Tales By Moon light.

How old were you then?

I think I was in my teens because then there was this restriction. It is either a story had something to do with a child. I can remember I featured in two episodes of Tales by Moonlight. My first role was when I acted a palace guard and in the second story I was a homeless child. Those were my first experience acting. Then I was one of the extras for a movie in 1991 called Crossroads. That was the first movie I featured in. It had the likes of Ejike Asiegbu, the past president of Actors Guild of Nigeria; it had Victoria Inyama. I left acting for a while but I was still doing my photography modelling. I worked for Indomie, Maltina and a host of others. In 2003, I did a movie with Zeb Ejiro, Robert Peters and Kate Henshaw. The movie is Deadly Mission. A lot of people asked why I did not stay back in the movie industry but I knew within me that I had to strike a balance because I was in between a whole lot of stuff. The system then was not too encouraging so I just felt it was not time for me to strike that balance, so I left. In 2005, I came back. I did a couple of soaps. The major one was for Mnet called Edge of Paradise. From there, I did other soaps for Tajudeen Adepetu. Things started evolving and I did Super Story, which I was a doctor in. I basically started doing more of TV series. I also did some movies for Shan George. After that I was in a couple of other things like I was one of the contestants for Idols West Africa. I made it to Planet One where I was one of the top 60. I later got to know that it was my age that was the issue.

Were you too young or what?

No, I was too old for it. From Idols, things continued evolving for me. It was actually in 2008 that I decided to stay in the system. I told myself that I had a passion for showbiz and I had to go for it. I have a talent for every aspect of entertainment, from music, voice over, modelling, acting and it was in 2009 that Project Fame came my way and ushered in my presenting skills. Basically, that is how it has been for me.

Where did you school?

I did my primary school in Benue State, secondary in Lagos State and I have a diploma in computer literacy from an affiliate of University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). From that point when I got that diploma, I started taking professional courses. Every time I enroll for professional courses, I find out that the passion for entertainment and showbiz always takes over. At some point, I told myself, enough of confusion; I decided to strike the balance that I have always looked forward to. I let go of every other thing and focused on what I am doing right now.

Do you have native names?

I am from Igala in Kogi State. I don't have any Igala name but I have an Igbo name because my mom is from the East. My names are Joseph Chibuzo Benjamin. So, Joseph Benjamin is not a stage name, it is my real name.

What other aspects of entertainment are you into?

I just knew I had a passion for show business. I knew I had a talent for all of these things. All entertainment aspects are intertwined. There is a connection in all entertainment aspects; it's just for you to understand if you have strong points for any of them. I tell people that all you have to do is understand the unique selling points in your career and build on it; trust me, you will fly. I am an MC for events but presenting is like the highest point in that aspect and I discovered I could do that very well too. People keep asking me about Project Fame. I auditioned alongside a lot of big names but I was not picked for the first season that Dare Art Alade hosted. I impressed them but I heard they were going to give it to Dare. It made sense because he was a product of Project Fame in South Africa. For the second season, I did not know they were shopping for a host. I just called the producer and he told me that I called at the right time, so I went for the audition again and I got it.

What drives your passion most?

Amazingly, music holds a very deep part of my heart. For someone like me to talk about music, you will know I am not talking about half measures like what most people do now. Your music is you, people should be able to feel me from the music I do. I know I have great passion for acting but music has a deep part of my heart. Acting and presenting comes to me naturally but for music, that is just Joseph.

Are you one of the many that fell in love with music by singing in a choir?

I am still in the choir. Music started for me when I was young. I remember back then, my elder brother and I played with music a lot. My brother loves music but he does not know how to sing. I discovered I could sing a long time ago.

What kind of music will you be going into?

My genre for music is soul and R&B. I think mostly gospel, and inspirational music.

Will it be right to say that Tango With Me is your biggest movie so far?

Yes, it is my biggest movie considering everything, the technicalities – bringing in an entire crew from Hollywood that went into that movie – it was a big one for me. It was my first time working with people from Hollywood. It was a big budget. More dialogue driven and very intimate, I will say yes, that it is my biggest movie project so far and it has been awesome for me.

What was it like being picked for the lead role?

There was no major audition for Tango With Me. They had it locked in that they would use Genevieve (Nnaji) and they had an idea of whom they wanted for the male character. I had a one-on-one chat with the crew. One of them knews me from Tinsel and Project Fame, and from there everything was set on course.

Since it is your biggest movie so far, was it very challenging?

It was, if you watch the movie you will find out that we had to really sink into those characters to deliver because there was a lot of emotion. Throughout the period of that movie, I was totally blank in my head. I had to take myself into a particular state in my mind to really get into that character.

How long did you shoot for?

We shot for like six weeks and everything was done on the Island. From what I hear from people who have seen the movie, they love it, meaning we did justice to it.

You are quite romantic in the movie, are you also like that naturally?

You are just trying to put me on the spot. I had to be romantic for the movie but it was a professional romance. This is letting out the gist about the movie. Go and watch the movie.

There is a rumour that a lot of guys were jealous that you had to act alongside Genevieve, did you get such comment?

You can say that again. All of the interviews I have been granting, guys have been asking how it felt kissing Genevieve, and I am like saying, is that all you saw in the thriller?

Let us put it this way, you said you never knew who you were going to act alongside with in the movie until you went to meet up with the crew and saw the chat, how did you feel knowing you were going to be in the movie with Genevieve?

I never knew I was going to be starring with her. I loved the story when I read it, it looked challenging and I asked whom I was going to play with and they said Genevieve, I was like wow, nice.

You had a crush on her?

I admired her talent not a crush. Well, crush, you can say that, every human has a crush. She was someone whose career I have admired and respected over the years because she is quite thorough and professional. I have followed her career and she is one of the very few who I like and applaud. When I first met her she was quite pleasant unlike how people think she is a snub. I also respect Stella Damasus, Kate Henshaw, Rita Domnic and Nse Ikpe Etim. People ask me if I felt intimidated working with Genevieve, trust me I was not intimidated working with Genevieve. We are both professionals and if Mamood Ali-Balogun didn't feel I was capable enough to do the job, I would not be called or even considered.

What don't people know about you?

I am a very reserved person. I am someone who likes my space. I am not a crowd kind of person except it has to do with a function or something. A lot of times people have termed me as an introvert or a snub but I am not. People who know me know that I am a very jovial and sociable person. I can crack you up but I am very private

No man can stop me from acting – Nuella Njubigbo

Nuella Njubigbo fondly known as Ella started out as a script writer before she veered into the acting to make a statement. This Public administration graduate of the Imo State University has featured in many movies including 'Lord of Marriage', 'Life Incident', 'Room Service', 'Not my wife' among others. In this interview, she speaks on what life has been with her in recent times and what she is looking out for in marriage when the bell eventually ring. Excerpts;

What are your fans expecting from you?
They should be expecting the best from me; things they have not seen before about me, another side of Nuella. There are so many things I'm working on. I have blockbuster movies that will soon hit the shelve.

Did you write the scripts?

I didn't write all, I wrote the scripts of two of the movies.

How soon are your fans expecting the wedding bell to ring?
When the bell rings, I will let you know, but not now.

Are you still searching?
I wouldn't say I'm still searching but I'm just waiting for the right time.

How do you mean?
When I'm ready and I'm sure, the right man will surface, or he has surfaced. But I want to be properly sure that he is the man I want to spend the rest of my life with.

What is your perception about marriage?
Marriage is all about commitment and sacrifice. You have to be ready to sacrifice a lot; you have to give up a lot of things to fit into it and to have a peaceful and happy marriage life. It is not a relationship that you can just wake up one day and say, I'm done with it.

I don't want to continue this anymore, it doesn't work that way. Once you are into it, you're really into it, you have to try and give your best to make it work out until you see that there is nothing else that you can do. I don't dream of divorce and I don't want to be part of it. I will rather wait and be careful in making the right choice.

Supposing after your marriage with your man in future, and he confronts you with this idea of choosing between your acting career and your marriage, what will you do?I'm going to get married to a man that loves me and any man that loves me will not want to stand between me and my career. Yes, I might not be as busy as I'm today, when that time comes, I might as well not be able to be jumping from one set to the other, but I cannot subscribe to stop acting. I might limit my movement and scrutinizeany script that comes my way. If my man truly loves me, he will not stop me from acting because acting makes me happy.

And what if he doesn't?
I am going to marry a man that loves me. When we get to that bridge, we will cross it. I just pray it doesn't come because I can't give up my acting career; I can do it part time but not like quitting it completely. I don't pray that kind of a thing should come my way. For my husband to tell me not to ever stand in front of a camera again, it's suicidal, it's like wanting to kill me.

Imagine that you are married and your husband decides to take a second wife, would you encourage him?
It is heartbreaking. What will make a man to want to take another wife? The only thing that can create a situation like that is when the man is not satisfied with the wife, meaning that there is something going wrong between two of them.

Either he is not getting all he wants from you. It is painful, disheartening and I cannot even imagine it. To think that my man is not satisfied with me and he wants something more than what I can give to him is very disheartening.

So what would you do?
Honestly speaking, I don't know because you know when a man has made up his mind, nothing can change it. I don't know what I can do, I don't know if I can stop him at that point, may be, one person has to go. I will walk out of the marriage, if I know I cannot stand the risk of sharing him with another woman. I will walk out of the marriage but I'm not yet in that position, and I don't ever pray to be in that kind of position. If I find myself in that type of situation, I will first of all analyse it and ask myself if I can really stand sharing him with another woman.

You have had your own fair share of scandals that comes with stardom, how did your man react to those scandals?
He knows me very well and because of that, there has never been any time we had issues because of such scandals. He is always like; take it very easy, I know how you feel, I am sure you know all these and you should have been ready for all these scandals before you started off. There has never been a time we quarrelled or had any issue because of scandal. He has been very understanding

“I Am Not Separated From My Wife” – Olu Jacobs

As a celebrity or entertainer, no part of your life is out of bounds even though many would rather want it that way. Recently there was a rumor making round that Nollywood’s ageless couple Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva are having problems in their marriage and thing has degenerated so bad to the extent that they no longer live together as husband and wife.

Describing the scenario as upsetting, the veteran actor said it was the nature of his job that kept him away from home and nothing else:

“There was a time when she was very angry when some papers were saying that we have separated and all that. I think a lot of people misunderstand what is going on. A lot of movies are done outside Lagos and I happen to work quite a lot outside Lagos. One, if we are invited to functions and I can’t go and she can go, she will go and represent us and she was doing that quite well. Two, her name is Joke Silva. Everybody knows her as Joke Silva. She is married; she’s now Mrs. Joke Jacobs but as an artiste, she’s Joke Silva and not Miss Joke Silva. So it is the same thing, when she calls herself but sometimes the public gets confused and wonders what’s cooking. But by the grace of God all is well.”

Now that we have heard from the horse’s mouth the rumor can die a natural death.

"People Don`t Believe I Am A Family Man" - Van Vicker

He is a man cuts across boundaries and feels at home anywhere he finds himself. Van Vicker could better be referred to as African actor rather than calling him Ghollywood or Nollywood actor. In a recent interview, Van talks about his career, family and more

How do you feel being on top of your game right now?

I have mixed feelings, both good and bad. It’s a good because the recognition is there for me but I feel bad in the sense that I wish there were a lot more of us to give room for competition.

Are you saying there is a dearth of good actors in Ghana?

Not really, but there are not as many actors compared to the Nigerian movie industry. We need more, that is why I feel bad. May be they do exist but we need more

How did you find your way into the Nigerian movie industry?

It was a Ghanaian producer (Venus Films), who got Nigerian owned Divine Touch movie production outfit for a collaboration here in Ghana, and that was how I started.

How did you come about acting?

I started six years ago when I was into ‘showbiz’. I’ve been into T.V and radio presentation. A producer actually walked up to me for a role in a movie and that is how I started

Would you say your good looks got you that first movie script?

I would not say that because I was in the ‘Showbiz’ long ago before I started acting. I was a T.V and radio presenter. I think what they were looking for was not only the good looks, but also a confident person. I have the confidence and God blessed me with the face

You bear a striking resemblance to Ramsey Noah, and this has brought about insinuations that you are taking the shine off him?

I don’t think so. Ramsey has his own strong hold, like wise me. Both of us are still working and I don’t think I am taking food out of his mouth because he’s still working and relevant

How do you handle your female admirers, especially those who may have a crush on you?

I don’t think it is much of a big deal. (Laughs). People tend to like whoever they choose not necessarily because of who the person is. So, it’s either you give in or you don’t

What’s your idea of a dream woman?

Well, my dream woman would be my wife because I am married.

How long?

It’s going to eight years now

You look quite young, why did you marry so early?

I married when I was 26 years old because the time was right and I found love

Is she an actress?

My wife is not an actress

How did you meet?

We met back in secondary school

Was it love at first sight?

I would not say that. It was not love at first sight, but growing love

Who chased the other, you or your wife?

Obviously, I did the chase.

Let’s compare the Nigerian and Ghanaian movie industries…

Nigerians have been making lot of movies compare to Ghanaians. Quality wise, I think Nigerians have been there for a while, they have more experience than us, but very soon the comparison would not be that much or anything to go by, because Ghanaians are currently putting their best, likewise Nigerians

Would you agree that you are a stereotyped actor?

I would agree with that, because quite a number of producers tends to tag me ‘lover boy’. It’s fair enough. But that’s one of the reasons I have also decided to produce a movie where I can take up different kind of characters, apart from being a lover boy.

How do you unwind?

I love playing snooker. I also hangout a lot with my kids, when I am not doing anything.

Have you had any challenges?

Couple of challenges, meeting people for the very first time, may be you are not friends yet, and tried to be the best that you can. The challenge is more of a general one when you need to step up your game to keep you on your toes.

Which is more challenging; Nigerian or Ghanaian movies?

Every movie is challenging, as far as I picked the role. It is not necessary about whether, it’s a Nigerian or Ghanaian movie. It’s all about the character which I am playing. That is where the challenges are

How would you describe yourself ?

I am a very shy person, I am an introvert, but when it comes to work, I am a different person, because my work demands that I must not be shy

If you were not in the acting world, where would you have been?

I would have been a medical doctor

What happened?

Destiny I guess.
