J-MARTINS AND FALLY IPUPA DAZZLES AT DIDIER DROGBA'S WEDDING

Highlife singer, J.Martins, was in Nice, France, on Sunday where he had a brilliant performance alongside Fally ipupa at the wedding of Chelsea FC star striker, Didier Drogba, and his wife, Lalla Diakite.

The Good or Bad crooner left Nigeria Thursday morning. J.Martins is the only Nigerian artiste invited to perform at the wedding that feature a constellation of football stars drawn from Drogba's club side and national team, Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire.

Meanwhile, we gathered that J.Martins was not invited on his own strength, but on the strength of his collaboration with Congolese music star, Fally Ipupa, on the song, Jupa Remix. In fact, it was Ipupa that was invited, the source says.

“Drogba really loves the song and he thought it was Fally Ipupa's. So, when his management got across to Fally to perform at the wedding to sing specified songs, he told them that Jupa Remix was not his. And that for him to perform it at the wedding, his collaborator, the owner of the song, had to be there.”

When Drogba was briefed, he assented because he had seen J.Martins perform at an event in Lagos, the source further says.

Drogba got married to his long-time partner, Lalla, by whom he has three kids.
Congrats Drogba.

GENEVIEVE NNAJI LOSES THE NEXT BOND GIRL ROLE TO NAOMIE HARRIS

Contrary to the rumour spreading like fire in Nigeria that Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji is the next bond girl, the News Of The World (UK) has named the British Actress and Pirates of Caribbean star-Naomie Harris as the next bond girl rather.

From what I read, the News Of the World which spoke to Naomie Harris is speaking with a louder and firm voice, not throwing out a rumour so it seems like the deal is sealed and confirmed. Genevieve Nnaji is not the next bond girl, maybe next time but for now, let's kill this rumour with the fact…

Below is what the News Of The World wrote

PIRATES of the Caribbean babe Naomie Harris has jumped ship – and will shoot to megastardom as the new Bond girl.

Naomie, 34, will be Daniel Craig's sexy sidekick in the soon -to-be filmed new 007 movie.

The British actress was spellbinding as Tia Dalma, the grotesque witch in the second and third Pirate films.

And her steamy love scene with Jamie Foxx in the Miami Vice remake proved she's the right calibre for Bond. Naomie, who stays superfit doing pilates and yoga, says: “I'm totally comfortable naked.”

Her mind's just as agile – she graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in social and political science.

Londoner Naomie revealed she isn't recognised in the street, despite her movie success. “I like that,” she says. “I've got one of those faces that people don't recognise.”

All that is about to change as she follows in the footsteps of gorgeous Bond girls like Ursula Andress, Jane Seymour and Halle Berry.

The plot of the new film, known only by its working title Bond 23, is being kept firmly under wraps.Judi Dench will again play M and Ralph Fiennes is in the running for a role. It is due for release in November 2012.

I'll go back to school for my mum's sake –Jaywon

Kennis Music's rave of the moment, Jaywon, spoke to Senior Reporter, Ifeoma Meze, on his music, family and life.

Why have you not gone back to school after your OND?

It is because of time and also because of music. I started my music career in my school days. I do small performances here and there. After my OND, I went to Abuja for my industrial training but things were just moving on a slow pace. Some of the companies that I got did not want to pay. The last one I got wanted to pay me N5000 but you realise that at the end of the day, you won't have anything with you because you would spend all on transport. After that I got a little job for like four, five months in Abuja. The little money I got, I use it to record songs. I did two songs in those days with some of my friends. The few people that heard the songs days liked them. I am the kind of person that if I do something and people encourage me, I will want to do more to impress them.

What kind of job did you eventually get in Abuja?

It was an odd job that I do not wish to talk about.

Was the job illegal?

It was not illegal but I don't want to talk about it. I was able to record other songs after those two but things were not just falling in line because I was not that known by then. Some of my friends advised me to come to Lagos but then, when you talk about moving to Lagos, everybody thinks it's very easy. I came to Lagos in 2005 just because of music and since then it has been work all the way.

Do you have plans to go back for your HND?

For my mum, I will try. My mum has always wanted me to be an accountant but the issue is that I cannot be an accountant so I will get the certificate for her and continue my music career.

So when did the music thing come to you?

I have been singing all my life. From when I was small, every song I listened to, I would want to learn to sing that song from the beginning to the end. I have a lot of my friends who are in the choir. I followed them but I was not part of the choir. I found out that at the end of the day, those that went for practice did not know the song. I would be the one that would start teaching them the songs. When I was quite little, I listened to King Sunny Ade. He was the only musician I listen to those days because my dad was in love with his music. So I learnt a lot of lyrics and I think it shaped my interest in music. Another thing that helped me is that anywhere music is I would want to be there and sing.

Since King Sunny Ade's music helped shape your interest in music, why didn't you go into juju music?

As I grew up, I listened to other kinds of music. By the time I got to primary and secondary school, hip-hop was already everywhere. There was Plantashun Boiz, Baba Fryo and many others. Right now, if you are very keen with my music, you will notice that there is a little of fuji and juju in it because that formed the beginning of my music career.

How would you describe your kind of music?

That has been very hard for me to do because I infuse different genres into my music. These days I say its Afro pop but if you ask me, I will say African music because if you check, R&B is not our style of music; hip-hop is not our style.

What about the fact that there are not many hip-hop musicians from the part of the country where you come from?

Dare Art Alade is from Kogi. He is from my own side. YQ is from Kogi even though he is Ebira. Even Steve Babaeko, the owner of X3M Music, is from Kogi.

How did you come about the stage name Jaywon?

Initially, my mum never wanted me near anything that would put me into music career. I was very happy when she finally agreed, and since she is so much in love with my first name Oluwajuwon and didn't want me to change it I decided to build a name around it. I removed 'U' from Juwon and I have Jaywon. She is not yet done with the name issue, which is why I call my full name in my music most times just to convince her that I still use the name.

Are you that scared of your mum?

Yes, I am. I respect her a lot. After I lost my dad over 10 years ago, my mum is like the air I breathe and the last thing I want to do is hurt her.

What was her reaction when you told her you wanted to do music?

She never wanted me to. I ran away for some time. That was when my industrial training came up. She was always calling to know my whereabouts and all I told her then was that I was ok but later I was able to convince her because she is the kind of person that if she tries to convince you about something and you do not agree with her, later just to make you happy, she will give you some benefit of doubt.

Is it because you are now a star that she is okay with it?

Her letting me into music was way back in 2006 before people started seeing me on TV. Now, she is ok with the music but not okay with people calling her Mama Jaywon.

When did you start getting paid for your music?

It should be in 2006 and I was paid N5,000 or even less than that. They were supposed to pay N10,000 for the show but the person that got the money said it was N5,000. I did not complain. I was very happy to receive that sum for the fact that my name and picture was on the poster. I tell people that the only way to get paid in this industry is through hard work.

How did you come about the song 'Facebook Love'?

Jaywon is one of those artistes who do not know how to write songs. I don't even write songs anymore. Sometimes I find it hard to put words together. All I need is play me the beat and I think of something and after few minutes, I will go into the studio to record it.

Later I will go back and edit what I have done. I put 'Facebook Love' together but I have already dropped my album so the song could not be on my album. By then, Essence's album was about to be released and Mr. Keke (Kenny Ogungbe) wanted me to do something with her and I had already finished with the chorus of the song. Don't get me wrong, it is Essence's song because it is on her album, but I also have right to the song as well because we did it together and the idea was mine.

How did you get into Kennis Music?

I always tell people that I am signed onto Kennis Music based on merit. I performed at Kennis Music Easter Fiesta and Mr. Keke saw me and signed me. That was how I got there.

Do you intend to stay with Kennis Music until maybe you have your own label?

I don't think I want to do anything outside Kennis Music. Whether people like it or not, Kennis Music is the biggest record label in Africa. They have the biggest platform. Even foreign artistes like Jay-Z and 50 Cent don't use one record label. Even when I have my own record label I am still going to be with Kennis Music.

What do you have to say of artistes that complain about Kennis Music?

I don't want it to look like I am supporting Kennis Music but my question to some of these artistes how much are you making for yourself? Because it is only when you make money that the record label makes money. If you don't make money, the record label will not make money. If your album does not sell, Kennis Music is not making money. If MTN, Glo or Etisalat does not call me for shows, Kennis Music is not making money. Before I came to Kennis Music, I heard many things about them from people but what I saw when I got here was very different from what I heard. I almost gave up signing the contract from what people told me. Today, most of the people that wanted to discourage me are the ones begging me to give their CD to Mr. Keke.

How would you describe your self?

I love real people and I will not deny the fact that I am a very stubborn person. I let people know the way I am and if they cannot accept me the way I am, I am sorry I cannot change it, no offence. People that say one thing and do another thing entirely puts me off. I am very playful and I don't look down on people.

Did the girls around you like your stubborn nature while growing up?

Girls? Where my mum was involved? Never. My mum was too tough. When my mum wanted to beat you, she would beat you without checking if you have a guest or not.

So you did not have a girlfriend throughout your secondary school days

I had but it was towards the end of my SS 3 class.

And she never came to your house?

To come and do what? No way.

So you were doing closet love

You can call it that. We could not kiss until I finished secondary school.

Are you presently in a relationship?

Yes, I do have a girlfriend but right now I am married to my work, which is music

I'm not bothered by 2Face's Infidelity – Annie Macaulay

Since that stunning lover-girl role she played in 2face's African Queen video, Annie Macaulay caught the attention of the entertainment industry.

Everyone wanted to know who the damsel on the power bike with 2Face was, especially when reports hit the streets that these two were actually dating. But later events was to change a lot of things as two other separate women came into the picture. And before Annie could say 2, both ladies were totting 2face's babies almost shutting the door in Annie's face.

Today, Annie is the mother of Isabella, a two year old -daughter she had for 2Face.

Last weekend, she was one of the guests at a 2Face tribute event tagged “Touch of a Genius held in honour of the 'Enter the place crooner', held in Lekki, Lagos. Showtime celebrity was able to engage her, where she talks about her career and relationship with Tuface Idibia.

Excerpts

This is a tribute to 2Face, how do you see the event?

It's really wonderful. We didn't expect it to eventually turn out this way but it has been one tremendous night. It's really wonderful. You need to see his face, he's all smiles, and giggling; he is dancing, so happy and it's been such a beautiful night. He's so happy and I feel so wonderful to be a part of this.

Tell us how it has been for you with 2Face?

I want to make one fact clear. 2Face has got his own life to live while I've got mine to live too. That's exactly my position, regardless of what people might be saying about us. I'm going to concentrate on looking after myself and my daughter in spite of what is going on between me and him. It's that simple.

How would you describe your relationship with 2face?

We are still very close to each other. As you can see, I accompanied him to this event and we are sitting together. That tells you, we are still inseparable. After all, he is still the father of my daughter so what else do you expect to hear from me. But then again, I repeat we both have our own independent lives to live. He does what he wants to do with his life, while I'll do what I want to do with my own life.

Pardon me, but you still appear to be bitter; possibly angry at him. Is it because you feel he betrayed you?

Why will I think that way. Like I said earlier, he has got his life to live as well as I have got mine to live. He is free to do whatever he wants to do with his life. If I have not forgiven 2Face of the wrongs I feel he had done to me in the past, perhaps, I wouldn't have been here to support him tonight.

I realised I mustn't think of myself alone but my daughter as well. What happened is between I and her father. She shouldn't be allowed to suffer for it and please I don't want to talk about this any further.

But people…?

Please no more. Please.

How close is he to your daughter?

(Her face brightens again) Oh! They are virtually inseparable. He is very close to her. She just had to here on this special night with him, and that's partly why I'm here too. They are as close as any father and daughter could be. And they will remain so for a very long time to come, I assure you.

Again, how are you finding things, knowing fully well that you will always be linked to 2Face and the media will forever be at your heels?

Yes, it's hard. But I'm a strong woman and I will continue to be there for my daughter. I really don't care what is being said or written about me or my relationship with 2 Face anymore. I tell you I don't care. I will continue to stay strong. He has his own life to live and I have mine. I have things that I am doing and I thank God for that. I have my hands full right now I don't have time to think about anything else.

What are these things you are actually busy with?

I'm acting, I have my own Television show and I'm also into private businesses. So, I have my hands pretty filled with activities.

Are you currently on any location?

I've been on set for days now, and I'm actually coming from location. I'm starring in two movies at the same time, so, I'm pretty busy. I just had to be here to support 2Face.

Where are you shooting?

In Lagos. Somewhere in Festac and Okota.

What are the movie titles?

I can't say for now. But you should know the way our movies producers are. You never know the title until it's out. But then, I have a couple of my featured movies already out in the market. It's a handful and they are doing pretty well in the market.

Do you plan to sing too?

No. I'm not going into singing. I have my TV show and I also have another project in the pipeline. It's like a reality TV show. My daughter is going to be involved in it too. So, my hands are filled up and that is why I tell you I cannot be bothered by what is going on around me, or what people are saying or not saying about me or anybody else.

FINALLY CHIDINMA READY FOR DEBUT ALBUM

Chidinma, the petite singer with the strong voice who captivated the hearts of millions and became the first female winner of MTN Project Fame in the Season 3 edition of the highly popular music talent show is set to drop her highly anticipated debut album.

Already the talented and widely- loved singer has released her first single Jankolikoko featuring veteran pop star Sound Sultan. Within a short space of its release the song is already getting rave reviews from music critics all over the country and has been getting steadily increasing airplay from radio stations nationwide. The song has that instant replay factor which will make you keep playing it over and over again.

“I am happy about the positive response towards my new single. Project Fame really taught me on how to be a total artiste and it was what I have learnt that I am putting back in my song. Jankolikoko is just the tip of the iceberg. I am improving my craft everyday” says Chidinma.

Chidinma broke into limelight and entered the history books after she won perhaps the toughest edition of MTN Project Fame having to battle her way to the top prize amongst stiff competitors such as the Ghanaian wonder kid Kesse Frimpong who many had tipped to win; Eyo, Ochuko and others. For all her hard work and growth as a singer and performer Chidinma took home a brand new Toyota RAV4, 2.5 million naira and a record deal.

Since her groundbreaking win, she has been hard at work burning the mid night candle at the studio and working with some of Nigeria's most talented songwriters and producers. She has already worked with the likes of super-producer Cobhams Asuquo who gave the world Asa, Naeto C's hit producer Tee-Y Mix and the godfather of contemporary highlife J. Martins. The petite singer also has plans to work with brilliant producers and songwriters such as Suspect, eLDee the Don and Omolara Ayodele.

“Right now I am in the studio with really talented artistes, songwriters and producers. I am putting a whole lot of energy into my first album because the expectations are high. I not scared but challenged to produce an album that will reflect who I am artistically as well as make an impact in the Nigerian music industry” says Chidinma about recording her first album.

The video of Jankolikoko will be directed by none other than Nigeria's number one music video director Clarence Peters. If the success of past winners of Project Fame is anything to go by then Chidinma should be the next big pop star we should look out far. The first winner of Project Fame, Iyanya has gone on to become a household name since 2008 while the winner of Project Fame Season 2 is steadily climbing the charts and is set to drop his own debut album.

Chidinma Ekile was born on the 2nd of May, 1989 into a family of seven siblings. She hails from Mbaitoli, Imo State. She grew up in Ketu, Lagos under strict and disciplinary parents. She acquired her primary school education at Caleb International Primary/Secondary School and Science Foundation Schools. She started singing at the age of six with the children's choir in her church under the guidance of her mom.

She discovered MTN Project Fame in 2009. A year later she registered to be part of the show which had already become so popular amongst millions of Nigerians and auditioned at Ultima Studios. She was chosen amongst the last twenty four to be in the Fame Academy. Under the tutelage of seasoned professionals in the Academy, Chidinma grew from strength to strength. In the beginning she was shy but after months of vocal training and positive reinforcement from the instructors she grew into her own and easily became a fan favourite.

Chidinma's yet-to-be-titled album will be available in all major outlets and stores nationwide as well as on the internet.

My Ex-Husband Does Not Compliment Me -Eucharia Anunobi

She is one of the actresses in Nollywood who have made her mark and permanently registered herself in the minds of people through her various roles since she came to limelight in 1996, when she acted in “Glamour Girls Part 2”. For sometimes now, Eucharia Anunobi's marriage break-up has been a topic of discussion among many with divergent views. The Imo state-born star actress whose part of beauty routine is to be stark naked for 30 minutes, is planning to be a Pastor. In this heart pouring interactions with CHRISTIAN OZURUIGBO, she reveals more facts about her failed marriage, acting career and the next moves.

Is it true you will become a Pastor?

Yes, everyone is meant to be a messenger of God, as long as you call yourself a Christian. Everybody must not, really, stand on the pulpit. But in everything we do in life; within your family, you are meant to be good examples. If on a wider scale when you have to reach out to a bigger audience and the Lord probably calls me to do that, why not? At the fullness of time, as soon as He had prepared me, I will pick up the mantle. You can call me an evangelist to be.

It has been a while now that you did a movie. What is happening to you?

A movie of mine got released few weeks ago; it is called “Breaking Heart”. Another one got released a month ago called “My Darling Prince”.

What about your ex-husband?

I am not supposed to know how he is doing. He never called in the last three years since he abandoned me and my son. And he never bothers to find out how his son is doing.

How is your son doing now?

We thank God Almighty. He is doing well, and God is keeping him for me.

What if your husband decides to come back and say he is sorry. Wouldn't you give him a second chance. As they say, to err is human but to forgive is divine?

All those options I have thought about and I have realised that he does not compliment me in any way and I believe the Bible tells me that you don't have to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. If you have friends and you don't share the same aspirations, you don't share the same dreams, you are thinking green and the person is thinking black, you can't work together unless you agree. I do not think we can work together. He is the one that took a walk out; I don't take a walk out because I believe in marriage. I believe in staying. I believe in the statement of marriage that marriage is not going to be a bed of roses. But I guess may be he thought life could be a bed of roses and probably there were better things for him to pick outside. So, it is not about me but because I know my Lord wants me to be happy. If he is going and that is the only way I am going to be happy, no way. And if he is coming back, I don't know he is going to compliment me in any way.

Don't you think that you can change him with the words of God?

Nobody changes anyway. God changes people. It is the word of God that will get the right man for me, not him.

Does it mean you did not see all these things before entering into marriage with him?

Nobody is a magician. Nobody is a vision teller. You can't see tomorrow. You only live on faith, the faith that you see now, the faith that you are like whether you are hygienically clean. I can see you now and know whether you are morally upright. You only take people on what you see on a day-to-day basis. So, you can go ahead and say oh! I know. I see. You might just have an idea on a day-to-day basis, and then you add up to the one to be one. So, there is now any I can say I saw that my marriage was going to break-up. Because one, my parents are still married and I don't believe in marriage breaking. What I know is that problems will come and you believe that by the grace of God, you will be able to solve them.

So your acting career does not have anything to do with the break-up?

Absolutely not. My career does not have anything to do with my break-up. I have been an actress close to 12 years now. That is the better part of my life. So, anyone coming to me should know that I am acting, because I love my job and the person will love me with my job.

How do you get along with your colleagues, or are there some that you cannot actually work with?

I get along with everyone of them. But I must not be deep friendship you can share. I am one of the actors that are very friendly to every one of them, both female and male. Yes, of course, I might be closer to a few more than others, but I want to believe that we are all friends. I don't have any problems with anybody, because, one, the job requires that you don't keep enemies because you never know who you are going to meet along the way.

Thinking back over the years, is there any experience you find very memorable or remarkable that you want to share?

Well, I want to say that when I became born again. Actually, I say to myself, why wasn't I born again earlier because I found out that being born again does not take anything away from your life. It rather adds to your life. I found out that a lot of people find it difficult to take that bold step to go to the front altar and declare that 'I'm born again'. They think that God is going to restrict you from doing a lot of things. Yes, really, He does restricts you from doing a lot of things, but things that will derail you from being a good example to your family and being a candidate for heaven. When you know you have God, you know you have the omni-present watching over you.
